The Aim

board repair department carries out

maintenance and repair work on their own

equipment.

Specifics of the Solution

Mercom has assisted the board repair department of the customer since 1998. At their headquarters, the team collects the monitors, scanners, modems and networking equipment that come in for repair and it is organized into a pallet for shipment to Mercom.

On arrival at Mercom, the devices are logged on to the company system for tracking and then the repair technicians begin work. At any one time, the Mercom system provides a snapshot of the inventory, the member of staff responsible and its current stage on the

repair cycle.

Additional Implementation

Mercom provides an efficient warehousing and fulfillment function for the specialist so that their customers are served with replacement equipment in a timely manner. 

Once the repair work is carried out, Mercom is then responsible for the storage. Based on daily instructions sent electronically, Mercom fulfills these orders and ships directly to their end-users across the country. Mercom has been able to enhance the service previously provided when all repair work was previously sent back to the customer’s HQ. Through this approach, the client can show efficiency improvements as their customers are served quicker and shipping costs have been reduced, as Mercom handles the return logistics.
